Interesting stuff is leaking out of Nintendo's iron-locked headquarters. Nintendo just recently put out a statement confirming that both a new Mario game AND Pikmin game are going to be unveiled at E3 this year. The statement reads:
"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year's E3 Expo. We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date."
They also said this:
"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing."
At first, I was really, really excited about the prospect of a brand new Mario game, but it turns out that this game will be based off of the Mii invested New Super Mario Bros. demo displayed at last year's E3 for the Wii U. Kind of a bummer, as I didn't really care much for that style of game, but I'm still keeping my hopes up. Having never played any of the previous Pikmin games (travesty I know), I will say that I am very intrigued about how this new one turns out.
This E3 should be very interesting for Nintendo.
