Sorry for being the bearer of sad news, but Grand Theft Auto V has been delayed until Sept. 17

So yeah, that just happened. As opposed to the springtime release date that was planned back in October, Grand Theft Auto V will instead launch on Sept. 17 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 "in order to allow additional development time."

In a post on Rockstar's website, the apologetic developer stated the following:

"We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require."

While this may appear to be relatively depressing news at first glance, if you think about it, there's already a ton of games that will be dropping in the next coming months anyways (*cough* The Last of Us, Bioshock: Infinite *cough*). It is curious, though, that the game has been pushed back to a release date that is so close to the heavily rumored launch of the next-generation consoles for both Microsoft and Sony.

This year's E3 is going to be very interesting indeed. Oh, and Grand Theft Auto V sounds awesome so far too, whether it makes an appearance or not.
