New Metal Gear Solid game announced, will be called Ground...Zeroes?

As many intellectually-driven individuals might have suspected, Snake (or Big Boss?) isn't quite ready to retire from silently murdering fools just yet.

During an event celebrating Metal Gear's 25th anniversary in Japan, a new title in the long-running series was revealed under the relatively crazy designation of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (edit: which might actually be a mistranslation of "Zero", but neither is confirmed yet).

Not many details have been revealed just yet, but it will supposedly be an open-world title. The demo shown took place during a rainy night, with Snake crawling around avoiding searchlights, killing a guard, riding a jeep and calling a helicopter for evac. Everything revealed was labeled as in-game footage and will indeed be targeting current-gen consoles. This also marks the first official game to be running on the fancy-sounding Fox Engine.

It's not quite clear just how open the game will actually be at this point, but as a fan of prior entries of the series, I'm both exciting and intrigued by the prospect of stealthily making my way through large-scale environments. This could provide for an awesome gameplay sandbox to mess around in.
