Halo 4's Forge mode revealed at RTX; people into creating stuff should be quite pleased

Yeah, so some Halo 4 details and footage was flaunted at Rooster Teeth's RTX live-stream event, delving into some of the improvements that Halo 4's map editor Forge would be bringing to the table.

For starters, it was revealed that Forge mode would be developed by both Certain Affinity and 343i. To those who don't know, Certain Affinity helped create the Halo Waypoint interface and the "Defiant Map Pack" for Halo: Reach. They also graciously lent their assistance to 343i with the development of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

The presentation itself discussed some of changes this editor has undergone. Among them include three distinct Forge environments (one resembling Reach's Forge setting was displayed), magnetized objects for snapping stuff together more precisely and efficiently, locking objects so they won't move while you edit, the inclusion of "Player Trait Zones" and "Grav Volumes" to adjust the attributes and gravity of specific areas in the environment to enable players to jump higher or survive giant falls, and dynamic shadows on everything to improve the overall look of these maps.

While I'm sure there will be more things announced regarding Halo 4's Forge mode, everything shown so far is looking and sounding great. 343i appears to be taking logical steps forward into making this mode all the more user-friendly and robust at the same time. While a full-on map maker would have been pretty cool, Forge certainly doesn't look like anything to merely scoff at. Unless you're a pompous snob. And in that case, uh, I feel bad for you.

The full presentation can be seen with your eyeballs below.
